June
2003--With design and construction being conducted concurrently,
Passero Spoleta Design-Build, L.L.C. raced to complete a building
renovation for the Bay View YMCA to be used for program and lavatory
space by summer day camp children.
This project had a unique time constraint due
to Day Camp beginning June 23. The project began in May; therefore
Passero Spoleta Design-Build overlapped design and construction
activities allowing for effective scheduling and immense time
savings, resulting in a schedule savings of an entire month.
The YMCA decided to adopt the Design-Build
delivery method for this project, allowing for a turn-key approach
to both design and construction services. They did so to guarantee
a maximum price early on in the planning process and allow for
the most expeditious construction possible.
Passero Spoleta Design-Build was incorporated
in 2002 as a way to facilitate an alternative project delivery
method to the traditional design-bid-build method. Passero Spoleta
Design-Build represents a cohesive group of over 120 highly trained,
experienced, and diversified construction professionals, from
architects and engineers to general contractors and builders.
