May 15, 2003--Passero Associates’ engineering and architectural talents were recognized recently when the YMCA of Greater Rochester selected the Passero Associates team to design two state-of-the-art full facility YMCA branches. Passero Associates was selected to design the new west side YMCA located in Gates and the new east side YMCA, to be located in Penfield.

The west side YMCA is scheduled to be completed in time for an October 2004 opening date. The east side YMCA will be designed in conjunction with the west side YMCA; it is scheduled to open in October 2005.

The YMCA of Greater Rochester is a charitable community organization dedicated to strengthening spirit, mind and body for all. Each of the Y’s diverse programs – including child care, camping, family programs, health and fitness, after school programs and leadership development – aim to instill positive values and develop character in participants of all ages.

The Passero Associates team consists of Passero Associates (performing architectural and civil engineering design), M/E Engineering (performing mechanical and electrical engineering design), and Shore Tilbe Irwin & Partners (based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) acting as the team’s design architects. Shore Tilbe Irwin & Partners has over 25 years of YMCA-related design experience, having designed over 12 new YMCAs and dozens of YMCA expansion and renovation projects.
